Personal vs private

One of the things that seems to be of concern when companies start thinking about venturing into social media is this perception that one has to reveal everything because of the social in social media. Not true.

Yes, you are expected to be human, to have a dialogue and to add content that has necessarily passed through the marketing department. But you can do that without revealing your innermost secrets.

There is a difference between being private and being personal. Think about the topics you talk about with your close friends and the topics you talk about with your colleagues. There’s a difference I guess?

Same thing in social media. Show that there is a human behind the keyboard by adding a touch of personality to your content.
